Polly A. (Williams) Pealer

Polly A. (Williams) Pealer, 80, of Zion Church Road, Orangeville, went to be with the Lord late Monday evening, March 15th, 2010 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville where she had been admitted earlier in the day. Born August 28, 1929 in Roaring Creek Township, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose and Lena (Lindenmuth) Williams. She was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Edward "Ted" Pealer on February 5th, 1997 which broke a marital span of 48 years. A lifelong resident of Columbia County, she was a 1948 graduate of Benton High School. Mrs. Pealer had been employed by the former Ronnie Dress Factory in Shickshinny as a seamstress. She had also baked pies for various restaurants. She was a very active member of St. James United Church of Christ near Bendertown where she was an officer for the Women's Guild; served on the Church Consistory; taught Sunday School and assisted with the church dinners and festivals. Mrs. Pealer was tax assessor for Fishing Creek Township and served on the township's Election Board for many years. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was noted for her sewing and baking. As a Christian woman, Polly was known for putting others and her family before herself. Surviving are her three daughters: Karen A. Swartz and her significant other, Gary Derrick; Jane K. Young and her husband, Elvin; Ellen L. Strausser and her husband, Dennis, all of rural Orangeville; 5 grandchildren: Denise Hill and her husband, Brian; Scott Young and his wife, Nora; Bryan Young and his wife, Jessie; Kira Heffernan and her husband, Charles; Stacia Young; one great granddaughter, Madison Young; a sister, Marlene Hewlett of Bloomsburg; 2 brothers: Keith Williams, Berwick and Dennis Williams of Bloomsburg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda G. Pealer on February 20, 1967; a grandson, Chad E. Swartz on October 4, 1993; a brother, Sidney Williams; and a companion, Daniel Albertson on June 8, 2009. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 AM at St. James United Church of Christ, Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, with the Rev. Darryl E. Kensinger, her Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Friday morning at the Church from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11 AM.
