Stanley M. "Junie" Kline, Jr.

Stanley M. "Junie" Kline, Jr., 78, of Bloomsburg (Scott Township), died early Tuesday morning, May 18th, 2010 at his home. He had been in ill health for the past three years. Born December 24, 1931 in Bloomsburg, he was a son of the late Stanley M. Kline, Sr. and Helen (Benshoff) Kline. He and his wife, Nancy L. (Dyer) Kline, would have celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on August 10th. Mr. Kline had been employed in the textile industry throughout his working career. He had worked for the Magee Carpet Company for 25 years and later for Milco Industries for 15 years. He retired on January 1, 1994. He was a 1950 graduate of Bloomsburg High School and then served his country in the U. S. Army in the Signal Corps from November 1953 to November 1955, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. Mr. Kline was a very active member of his church, the Ridge Street United Methodist Church, where he was involved in all aspects of the church. He served as Choir Director for many years; a member of the Sunday School; served as a trustee and on numerous committees over the years. He was a member of the Bloomsburg Bicentennial Choir and was noted for singing the solo, "Singing In The Rain". He was also a member of the Bloomsburg American Legion. Mr. Kline was well known throughout the area as a talented baseball player. He played second base in the Tri-County League for many years, playing for Orangeville, Mifflinville and Millville. He had also been active with the American Legion Baseball League. He treasured spending time with his family and friends and especially enjoyed holidays. He was an avid Yankees baseball fan; a Penn State fan and also followed sports on a local level with the Central Columbia School District. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed working in his yard, mowing grass and taking care of his lawn. Surviving, in addition to his beloved wife, Nancy, are his two daughters: Kelly Novak and her husband, Emil, of Hetlerville; Kathy Klingerman and her husband, Brian, of Bloomsburg; his 5 grandchildren: Megan and Adam Novak; Hannah, Grace and Ava Klingerman. Also surviving are a brother and 2 sisters: Robert Kline, of Bloomsburg; Shirley Miller of Camp Hill and Bonnie Pursel and her husband, Arthur, of Camp Hill as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a stillborn son, Richard Alan Kline on December 13, 1954. Funeral Services will be held Friday, May 21st at 11 AM at the Ridge Street United Methodist Church, Almedia, with his pastor, Rev. Robert J. Eddinger, officiating. Burial will be in the New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy with military honors accorded by a combined Veterans group. A Visitation will take place Friday morning from 10:00 until the time of the Service at 11:00 at the Church.
