Reuben Albertson

Reuben Albertson, 88, of Albertson Road, Orangeville, Fishing Creek Township, died Tuesday evening, October 9, 2012 at his home. Born May 27, 1924 in Fishing Creek Township, he was a son of the late Howard James Albertson and Clara Beatrice (Kester) Albertson. He and his wife, Pauline Ruth (Mills) Albertson celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary on March 3rd. Mr. Albertson farmed and did lumbering for most of his working life. He had also worked in construction for a number of years and was well known for raising tomatoes. He also served as a Fishing Creek Township Supervisor. He attended the former one room school house at Savage Hill. He proudly and honorably served his country in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was highly decorated receiving the EAME Theatre Service Medal with 2 bronze stars, the World War II Victory Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Surviving, in addition to his wife, Pauline, are his 9 children: Dennis Albertson and his wife, Susan, Orangeville; David Albertson and his wife, Roberta Jean, Orangeville; Douglas Albertson, Orangeville; Deborah Schildt and her husband, Robert, of Mahaffey; Donna Hall and her husband, Michael, of Lewes, Delaware; Darla Moore and her husband, Timothy, of Orangeville; Dane Albertson, of Orangeville, Denise Hess and her husband, Scott, of Orangeville and Dean Albertson and his wife, Peggy, of Orangeville. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Leroy Albertson, who died in infancy; Brooks Albertson and two sisters: Hattie Albertson and Elva Brown; 2 grandsons and a great granddaughter. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 2 P.M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Rt. 487). Burial will be in the Savage Hill Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township, with full military honors accorded by a combined Veterans group. A viewing will be held Saturday from 12:30 until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Benton V. F. W., P. O. Box 463, Benton, PA 17814.
