Mr. Raymond DeYong

Raymond DeYong, 63, of E. Piper Lane, Benton, died Monday, April 9, 2012, while visiting in Morristown, New Jersey. Born, June 8, 1948 in East Stroudsburg, he was a son of the late David DeYong, Sr. and Annie (Reinalda) DeYong. He and his wife, Kathleen R. (Hann) DeYong would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary this October 28th. Mr. DeYong attended West Morris High School in Long Valley, New Jersey. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army (25th Infantry 3/4 Cavalry) in the Vietnam War. He had been awarded the National Defense Service Medal the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Purple Heart and the Sharpshooter Badge with Rifle Bar. He was a member of the Benton V. F. W. and the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Berwick. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his 2 daughters: Kathleen R. "Kate" Mione and her husband, SFC David Mione, of Tobyhanna; Patricia A. "Patti" Andreas and her husband, Karl Andreas, Jr., of Berwick; 4 grandchildren: Jacob David Mione, Davin Chad Mione, Emilee Rose Andreas, RaeAnna Robin Andreas; 3 brothers: David DeYong, Jr. and his wife, Elaine, of Mt. Bethel, PA; Peter DeYong and his wife, Judy, of Bradenton, FL; Paul DeYong, of Hackettstown, NJ; 4 sisters: Marion "Mickey" Mack and her husband, Ronald, of Bushkill, PA: Pamela Drake and her husband, Ernie, of Mathais, WV; Lorraine Ainsworth and her husband, Fred, of Bloomsburg; Linda Richner and her husband, Allen, of Mansfield, PA and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Arthur DeYong, Sr., Gerrit John DeYong and a sister, Gertrude Whitesell. A Visitation will take place Friday evening, April 13th, from 5 to 7 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Rt. 487). His Funeral Service will begin at 7 PM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Lyons of Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to Holy Family School, 728 Washington Street, Berwick, PA 18603.
