Mildred Jean (Moss) Sellers Derr

Mildred Jean (Moss) Sellers Derr, 91, of S. R. 93, Orangeville, died early Monday morning, October 15, 2012 at her home. Born January 11, 1921 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Rollie and Grace (Gallup) Moss. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Clark Sellers on March 10, 1981. She was a 1939 graduate of Benton High School and had worked as a cook at the Millville High School Cafeteria for 12 years, retiring in 1976. Mrs. Derr was a very active member of the Derrs Christian Church where she was a Sunday School Teacher and involved with the various church activities for many years. She also served as the chief cook for Camp Epachiseca in Stillwater for many years. In her younger years she was active with the 4-H Club and in her later years was a member of the Orangeville Homemakers Club. She enjoyed being a homemaker and was also known for her crocheting, quilting and crafts. Surviving, are her husband, Eugene Derr, Jr., whom she married on October 10, 1990; her 12 children: William Clark Sellers, Jr., of Bancroft, Wisconsin; Darwin Blaine Sellers, of Millville; Ruth Evarts and her husband, Martin, of Hunlock Creek; George Sellers and his wife, Paula, of Benton; Donald Sellers and his wife, Pam, of Nescopeck; Barbara Griff and her husband, George, of Galt, Missouri; Gloria Woodside and her husband, Rick, of Talbot, Tenn.; Dale Sellers and his wife, Linda, of Turbotville; David Sellers and his wife, Josie, of White Pines, Tenn.; Beverly Lee and her husband, Garrett, of East Stone Gap, Virginia; Karl Sellers and his wife, Sadanna, of Wichita, Kansas; Marilyn E. Strauch and her husband, Garth, of Millville; 35 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; her step children: Donald Derr and his wife, Aline, of Red Lyon, PA; Sandra Long and her husband, Paul, of Stillwater; Sheila Halderman and her husband, Joseph Halderman, Jr. , of Orangeville; numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren; her siblings: Elsie Mahoney, of Sweet Valley; Betty Fritz and her husband, Bud, of Benton; Harold Moss and his wife, Ellie, of Benton; David Moss and his wife, Darlene, of Benton; Marilyn Seward and her husband, Marvin, of Red Rock; Richard Moss and his wife, Pat, of Ulster, PA as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Ralph and Robert Moss. Funeral Services will be held Thursday at 10 A. M. at the Derrs Christian Church with Pastor Robert K. Andrews, her pastor, and Pastor Joel D. Stauffer, Sweet Valley Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to The Columbia Montour Home Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815.
