Mabel L. (Kindig) Whitenight

Mabel L. (Kindig) Whitenight, 94, of Ridge Road, Orangeville, (Jonestown), died early Saturday morning, May 7th, 2016 at the Bonham Nursing Center where she had been a resident since April 10, 2015. Born July 16, 1921 in Bendertown, Fishing Creek Township, she was a daughter of the late Harvey and Ethel (Good) Kindig. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald C. "Buck" Whitenight, of 69 years, on June 13, 2009. She attended the former Bendertown School and then graduated from Benton High School in 1939. Years ago she had been employed by the former Grants Department Store in Berwick as well as the Fulton Lamp Factory in Berwick for a short time. She had also worked for Berwick Industries for 10 years. She was an active member of the Jonestown United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. Known for being a good homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and making clothes. She also enjoyed quilting and doing crafts. Surviving are her seven children: Donald C. Whitenight and his wife, Ruth, of rural Orangeville; Jeannie Hunsinger and her husband, Gerald, of Jonestown; Weldon B. Whitenight and his wife, Ginny, of Benton; Sherrill A. Confair, of Benton; Beverly J. Ribble and her husband, Dean, of rural Orangeville; M. Dee Raski and her husband, M. Paige, of Millville; Penny S. Fritz and her husband, Shane, of Benton. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Hess. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 3:30 PM at the Jonestown United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles V. Claybourn, her Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Jonestown Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Saturday at the Church from 2:30 PM until the time of the Service.
