Kenneth E. Knorr

Kenneth E. Knorr, 87, passed away peacefully at home in Elk Grove on Tuesday, May 10th, 2016. Born at home in Prospect Park, Pennsylvania on October 30, 1928, he was the son of the late Russel and Verna (Ryman) Knorr. After serving in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, he returned to college graduating from Penn State University in 1956 with a B.A. in Arts and Letters, majoring in political science. He then began a career in federal law enforcement which included serving with the Border Patrol in Texas, several years the ATF in southern Maryland and ending with the DEA in Chicago and Washington, D. C. In the 1940's his parents built a hunting cabin in Elk Grove. Ken enjoyed his times at the cabin with family and friends, hunting and fishing. Following his wife's retirement in 2003 they moved to Elk Grove from the Washington, D.C. area. Ken and his wife, Katie, traveled extensively throughout the U. S. (49 states), Europe and Canada. He spent his retirement years fishing, walking the dog a few miles everyday, enjoying the outdoors, attending 30 seasons of PSU football, painting watercolors, and , as with Katie, the only life-time members of the Northern Columbia Community and Cultural Center (N4C's) located in Benton . In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Janet Boekenkamp and his brother, Marvin Knorr. He is survived by his wife and best friend of 35 years, Katie. He is also survived by son, Kenny and his companion Jeannie Hesketh, of Fredericksburg, VA; a daughter, Lee Claire, of Stafford, VA; her daughter, Lauren, and sons, Joshua and Vincent; a step- daughter, Jennifer Gilbert, of Owings, MD and her son, Ian; a niece, Janet Thompson; and a nephew, Wayne Boekenkamp. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life followed by a reception at the N4C's in Benton will be held on Saturday, June 18th, 2016 at 1 PM. The Rev. Allen Lumpkin, Benton Presbyterian Church will officiate. The family suggests any memorial gifts be directed to the N4C's, P. O.
