Kathryn Ann (Price) Maynes

Kathryn Ann (Price ) Maynes of 5063 State Route 487 Lot 4, Benton, died peaceably in her sleep, at her home in Lehet's Village on New Years Day. Kathryn was born in Allentown, PA, and was the daughter of Wilbur F. and Mary Ellen (McDermott) Price. She and her husband Bob, celebrated their 67th Wedding Anniversary in November. She is survived by their children, daughter, Ann, her husband Wayne, of Liberty, NY, daughter, Mary Jo, and her husband Ron, of Saint Paul, MN , son Robert and his wife, Kathy, of Camden, ME , and son William and his wife Joan of Nassau, NY. In addition she is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Price of Benton, widow of Col. Wilbur Price, and brother of Kathryn, seven grandchildren, Mary Kay, Daniel, Elizabeth, Katie, Tim, Carisa and Casey, nine great-grandchildren, Luke, Riley, Jenna, twins Ellie and Elise, Miabelle, Kaya, Zoe and Jed. Kathryn was a graduate of Allentown High School, class of 1934, Kutztown State Teacher's College, and Allentown Business School. She was employed as secretary to the President of L.F. Grames during WW2. During her 67 years of marriage she was employed as a legal secretary in Lockport, NY, and as office manager with several corporations on Long Island, NY. Upon her move to Benton in 1981, she volunteered as Church secretary for several years at Christ the King Church. She enjoyed travel, garden clubs and volunteering with church projects, especially as a faithful member of the Legion of Mary. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting and won a blue ribbon at the Bloomsburg Fair. Kitty, as she was lovingly known,will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 6th, 2014 at 11 A. M. at Christ The King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, with Father Joseph H. Fennessy, as Celebrant. A Viewing will be held Monday morning from 10 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass at the Church. Burial will be in St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Sugarloaf Township. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Christ The King Catholic Church, P. O. Box 297, Benton, PA 17814. Arrangements are under the direction of the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., Benton.
