Joseph M. "Joe" Kessler

Joseph M. "Joe" Kessler, 57, of Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, died Thursday morning, October 15th, 2015 at his home. He had been in ill health for the past three years. Born September 17, 1958 in Muncy Valley, he was a son of Larry "Joe" Kessler and Edith A. (Artman) Kessler, of Greenwood Valley. He and his wife, Alice L. (Pursel) Kessler, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on July 19th. Mr. Kessler attended Millville Schools and faithfully served his country in the U. S. Navy and was awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He had been employed by Penn-DOT as a mechanic supervisor until June 2014 when poor health forced his retirement. He attended the Stillwater Christian Church and was a member of Oriental Lodge, No. 460, F. & A. M., of Orangeville. His hobbies included hunting, camping, wood working, horses and pony pulls, gardening and working on cars. He also enjoyed going to NASCAR races and spending time with his grandchildren. Surviving, in addition to his wife and parents, are his four children: Viola Bacon and her significant other, Ken, of Millville; Tony Kessler and his wife, Laura, of Unityville; Aaron Kessler and his significant other, Sarah, of Clarkstown; Amanda Laura and her husband, Eric, of Port Richey, FL; two step children: Tracy Farr, of Bloomsburg and Richard Beitz and his significant other, Amy, of Bloomsburg; four grandchildren: Kahlan, Gabriel, Chantz and Kartyr; two sisters: Victoria Mull and her husband, Jay, of Orangeville and Tammy Kessler and her husband, Jerry, of Orangeville. He was preceded in death by a nephew, Randy T. Walker. Funeral Services along with Masonic Services and Military Honors will be held Tuesday, October 20th at 5 P. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with Pastor Scott L. Lyons, Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. A Viewing will be held Tuesday from 3 PM until the time of the Services at McMichael's. There will also be a Memorial Service scheduled at a later date at the new Stillwater Christian Church. The family requests, that in Joe's honor, to please dress in casual attire. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Stillwater Christian Church, 39 McMichael Street, Stillwater, PA 17878.
