Helen E. (Roadarmel) Laidacker

Helen E. (Roadarmel) Laidacker, 72, of Lightstreet, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 21, 2014 surrounded by her loving family. Born December 4, 1941 in Bloomsburg, she was the daughter of the late Bowman Roadarmel and Grace Eudora (Beagle) Roadarmel. Helen and her husband, L. Wayne Laidacker, would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary on September 27th. Mrs. Laidacker co-owned, with her husband, Orangeville Surveying Consultants for 30 years. She also owned and operated the former Treats and Sweets store in Bloomsburg. She was a school bus driver for 15 years as well. Helen, her husband, and their 6 children performed as the ‘Singing Laidacker Family’ while the children were growing up. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church of Bloomsburg where she served as a gifted organist, pianist, and soloist for many years. She was also active with the Lightstreet Volunteer Fire Company. Mrs. Laidacker enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their athletic and school events. Her hobbies included ceramics, sewing, cooking, baking, and gardening. Surviving in addition to her husband, Wayne, are her six children: Deborah Price and husband, Steve, of Millville; Esther Pochakilo and husband, Gary, of Kulpmont; Rebecca Wasylyk and husband, David, of Sweet Valley; Eve A. Laidacker, of Devon; Matthew Laidacker and wife, Susan, of Bloomsburg; Ruth Mausteller and husband, Glenn, of Stillwater. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, as well as 2 brothers: Jack Roadarmel and wife, Karen, of Bloomsburg; Glen Roadarmel and wife, Jeanne, of Orangeville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother. A celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014. Friends and family will be received from 10 a.m. until 12 noon at the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 260 E. Seventh Street, Bloomsburg. Services will begin at 12 noon at the church with a luncheon to follow.
