Paul Eugene Ribble

Paul Eugene Ribble, 85, of Stillwater, died Saturday morning, May 19, 2012 at the Bonham Nursing Center where he had been a resident since January. Born January 26, 1927 in Falls Township, he was a son of the late Paul Revere Ribble and Edna (Allbeck) Ribble. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Marie "Betty" (Creveling) Ribble, of 59 years, on October 2, 2007. He attended the former Stillwater School for 8 years and then graduated from Benton High School in 1944. He later attended the Coyne Technical Institute in Chicago where he studied radio and electrical. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Navy during World War II and had been awarded the American Theater Ribbon and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Ribble was a longtime Postmaster at the former Stillwater Post Office. He retired in 1987 after more than 28 years of service. He was a very active member of Stillwater Christian Church where he had served as a Deacon and Trustee. He was chairman of the building committee in 1963 when the addition of the fellowship hall was built. His hobbies included wood working, hunting and flea markets. Surviving are his three sons: Dennis Eugene Ribble and his wife, Sharon, of Benton; Dean Edward Ribble and his wife, Beverly, rural Orangeville; Donald E. Ribble and his wife, Edye, of Stillwater; 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; a brother, William Dexter Ribble, of Stillwater; 2 sisters: Beverly Kingsbury, of Leroy, PA and Donna Derr, of Vero Beach, Florida. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Doris Miller on September 11, 1992 and by an infant sister, Connie Rose Ribble. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 24th, 2012 at 11:30 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Rt. 487) with Pastor Scott L. Lyons, Associate Minister of Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Stillwater Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Thursday from 10 AM until the time of the Service at 11:30 at McMichael's. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to the Stillwater Christian Church, 42 Wesley Street, Stillwater, PA 17878.
