Edmund J. "Ed" Nedza

Edmund J. "Ed" Nedza, 90, formerly of Elk Grove Road, Benton, died early Wednesday morning, May 11th, 2016 at the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center where he had been a resident since 2007. Born April 5, 1926 in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Thomas and Adeline (Juchriewicz) Nedza. Mr. Nedza was educated at the Benjamin Franklin High School in Philadelphia and had worked as a printer in Philadelphia for 22 years. He later worked in the microwave industry for 19 years, retiring in 1991. He faithfully served his country in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant in the Infantry during World War II. He had been awarded the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Nedza was a member of Christ the King Church in Benton; the Legion of Mary and was a fourth degree Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of the Benton Council of Churches, the Fort Ricketts Post 8317 Veterans of Foreign Wars of Benton; American Legion, Post 884, of Philadelphia His hobbies included deep sea fishing, hunting, photography, polka dancing and he was an avid gardener. Surviving are a niece, Theresa Stephenson and her husband, William, of Langhorne, PA; a great nephew, John and a great niece, Jennifer; cousins: Barbara Gellman and Sister Carol Mockus; and a good family friend, Cathy Costello. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve Hudreck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, May 19th, 2016 at 10 A.M. at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mendenhall Lane, Benton, with Father David M. Hereshko, as Celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon. At the request of the deceased there will be no public viewing. Military Honors will be conducted Thursday morning following the Mass at Christ the King Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ The King Church, P. O.
