Clive R. Posey

Clive R. Posey, 92, of Savage Hill Road, Orangeville, died Monday, July 20th, 2009 at the Berwick Retirement Village II. Born December 4, 1916 in Brock Road, Virginia, he was a son of the late Emery Richard Posey and Armentis Alice (Arbogast) Posey. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eila M. (Hartman) Posey on January 1, 2003 which severed a marital span of 60 years. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Jewel Moss Gregory. Mr. Posey was a dairy farmer for most of his life and had also worked as a carpenter, retiring in 1997. He was a very active member of the Rohrsburg Christian Church where he had served as an Elder for 50 years; a Sunday School Teacher for 60 years and was also a lay minister. In 1997 he received a plaque of recognition from the Church with deep appreciation for his many years of faithful service. Mr. Posey was a member of the A. S. C. of Bloomsburg. He was noted for playing baseball, which he played until he was age 46. He also enjoyed checkers, reading, Bible Studies, Church songs, music, and visiting. He attended Danville schools and served his country during World War II in the U. S. Army as a Sergeant in the 841st Engineer Battalion (Aviation). He was awarded the Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one Bronze Star; the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars; the Good Conduct Medal; the Meritorious Unit Award, the American Theater Service Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Mr. Posey had served on the Benton Area School District Board of Directors for 10 years and also on the Columbia Montour Vocational Technical School of which he helped to establish. He was also a former member of the Rohrsburg Cemetery Association. Surviving are his 3 children: Marie Roberts and her husband, Dr. David Roberts of Johnson City, TN; Nancy Weiser and her husband, Craig, of Nescopeck; Alan R. Posey and his wife, Barbara, of Orangeville; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and a brother, Lynn Posey, of Orangeville. Funeral Services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Rt. 487) with Pastor Michael Woolcock, his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Rohrsburg Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at McMichael’s.
