CARROLL V. LEIBENSPERGER World War II Veteran Carroll Volney Leibensperger, age 89, of Bethel Hill Road, Shickshinny, ended his pilgrim's journey and entered eternal rest on Friday morning, April 8th, 2016 at Bonham Nursing Center, Stillwater. Born March 15, 1927 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Carroll and Evelyn (Conner) Leibensperger. He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Elizabeth (Ludwig) Leibensperger, on June 19, 2010. Mr. Leibensperger was a 1945 graduate of Williamsport High School. He proudly served his country in World War II in the US Army Air Corps and had been awarded the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Ribbon. He served with the Headquarters Squadron, 20th Air Force, 314th Bomb Wing in Guam, Mariana Islands. He attended the Bible Baptist Church of Benton. He was a life member of the N. R. A., The Elks Lodge of Bloomsburg, the American Legion of Millville and the V. F. W. Surviving are his two children: Carroll Snyder and her husband, George, of Shickshinny; Keith Leibensperger and his wife, Kathleen, of Newfane, NY; a sister-in-law, Linda Dieffenbach and her husband, Larry, of Williamsport; a granddaughter, Marcie Snyder of Berwick; a grandson, John Snyder, of Berwick; a grandson, Christopher Leibensperger and his wife, Jenny, of Rochester, NY; a grandson, Nathan Leibensperger, of Rochester, NY; a granddaughter, Rita Leibensperger, of Manhattan, NY and by seven nieces and one nephew. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 14th, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. at the Bible Baptist Church of Benton with the Rev. Paul S. Moseley, Sr., his pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Bethel Hill Cemetery, Fairmount Township will full military honors. A Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 PM at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487). There will be an Elks Service at 7 PM at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions may be made in his memory to the Bible Baptist Church of Benton, 250 Shickshinny Road, Benton, PA 17814 or to the Bloomsburg Elks Lodge, 1223 Old Berwick Road, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or to an organization of your choice.
