Carl D. Remley

Carl D. Remley, 79, of 64 Remley Hill Road, Benton (Divide), passed into his Savior's arms on Wednesday morning, November 19, 2014 at his home where he was born and raised. Born December 1, 1934 in Jackson Township, he was a son of the late Elvin and Esther (Miller) Remley. Carl attended the one room schoolhouse at Divide and then went on to Benton High School. He was a dairy farmer all his life and had worked at the former Benton Roller Mills. He was also a Jackson Township Supervisor for 29 years. He was a member of the Waller Cemetery Association and the Fishing Creek Valley Authority. Carl enjoyed hunting and enjoyed getting together with his family for holidays and picnics. He was a lifetime member of the Divide Union Church where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class, assisted with communion, was superintendent and served on the Church board. Surviving, are his wife, Betty H. (Kingsbury) Remley, of 53 years; his 4 children: Anna Parks and her husband, Bill, of Benton; Carla Emery and her husband, Mark, of Benton; Gregory Remley and his wife, Patty, of Muncy; Paul Remley and his friend, Steve Werner, of Benton; 9 grandchildren: Gregory Jr., Heather, Heidi, Lindsay, Jamie, Clayton, Justin, Brittany and Jaylee. Also surviving are 19 great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Jean Becker, of Rochester, New York; Mary Jones, of Buffalo, Wyoming; Lois C. Rhinard Stere, of Bloomsburg; two sister-in-laws: Carolyn Remley and Marian Remley, both of Benton as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janis (Hess) Remley; 3 brothers: E. Lee Remley, Edward Remley, Herbert Remley and a sister-in-law, Lois Pealer. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with Pastor Michael Delp, Stillwater Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Waller Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 PM at McMichael's.
