Carilu M. "Lu" (McMillen) Lehman

Carilu M. "Lu" (McMillen) Lehman, 81, of S. R. 487, Orangeville, died Monday morning, January 25th, 2016 at Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice at Maria Hall, Danville. Born August 10, 1934 on the family farm in Kistler, Perry County, she was a daughter of the late Reed and Nellie (Hench) McMillen. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin M. "Mel" Lehman, of 48 years, on August 1st, 2007. Mrs. Lehman attended a one room school for her first eight years of school and then graduated from Blain High School in 1952 and from Thompson Business College in Harrisburg in 1953. She worked at the Pennsylvania Medical Society for five years and upon her marriage to her husband, Mel, assisted him with the family business for nearly 50 years. She also ran the restaurant, "Mom's Kitchen" at their business, the Danville Auto and Cattle Auction. She was an active member of the Lightstreet United Methodist Church where she served on the board of trustees. She started the "Aloha" group for those living alone. She also maintained an associate membership with the Lawn Evangelical Congregational Church. She attended the Berwick Christian Women's Club since 1977 and held most every position on the executive board , including chairman. Mrs. Lehman was an avid hunter and especially loved deer hunting. She was known for her collection of cookbooks and for the many cards and letters that she sent out. She also enjoyed her daily "coffee rounds" and dining out. Surviving are her two sons: Todd D. Lehman and his Wife, Julia, of Bloomsburg; Kirk N. Lehman and his Wife, Marian, also of Bloomsburg. 4 Grandchildren: Jessica, Danielle, Ross and Reed Lehman. Also surviving are three sisters: Lorene Haas and her husband, Dale, of Loysville, PA; Miriam Frantz and her husband, Richard, of Riverside, CA; Adelaide Kretzing and her husband, Perry, of Loysville. Services will be held Saturday, February 6th, 2016 at 2 P. M. at the Lightstreet United Methodist Church with her Pastor, the Rev. Jennifer Parks-Snyder, officiating. A private funeral service will be held for the family with burial in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Orangeville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Lightstreet United Methodist Church, 1640 Main Street, Bloomsburg, PA 17815 or to the Geisinger Columbia Montour Hospice, 410 Glenn Ave., Suite 200, Bloomsburg, PA 17815. Arrangements are under the direction of the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton.
