Barbara (Belles) Wisniewski

Barbara (Belles) Wisniewski, 92,of Old Tioga Turnpike, Stillwater, (New Columbus) died Wednesday morning, June 24, 2015 at the Birchwood Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Nanticoke where she had been a resident for the past three months. Born July 23, 1922 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Robert Rush Belles and Grace (LaCoe) Belles. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Charles Wisniewski, on November 11, 1987. Mrs. Wisniewski attended elementary school in New Columbus and then graduated from Huntington Mills High School in1940. She was a noted seamstress and had been employed by the former Dockey Shirt Factory in Berwick and Benton; Milco Industries and the former Luzerne Outerwear. She retired in 1986. Mrs. Wisniewski was a member of the Town Hill United Methodist Church. Active in the community, she also served on the New Columbus Borough Council and the Election Committee. She was also a member of the New Columbus Academy Association; the New Columbus Cemetery Board and was the representative for New Columbus Borough for the Nuclear Power Safety Committee. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, mowing lawn, tending to her flowers and collecting vintage Lionel trains. Surviving are her four sons: Stanley Charles "Bud" Wisniewski, II and his wife, Tina of Cream Ridge, NJ; Gary J. Wisniewski and his wife, Nancy, of Bethlehem; Robert R. "Bobby" Wisniewski and his wife, Lisa, of Northampton and David John Wisniewski of State College. Also surviving are ten grandchildren: Stanley III, Daniel, Jarrod, Jonathan, Jamie, Courtney, Kyrstin, Robert II, Doug and David; five great grandchildren: Paige, Jordyn, Olivia, Nathan and Andrew. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Brader. Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home, Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (S. R. 487) with Pastor Mark A. Stoker, officiating. Burial will be in the New Columbus Cemetery. A Viewing will be held Friday from 5 to 7 P. M. at McMichael's.
