Nancy M. (Janney) Fox

Nancy M. (Janney) Fox, 72, of South Comstock Road, Benton, died early Thursday morning, October 15, 2009 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where she had been a patient for the past week. She had been in declining health for the past several years. Born March 11, 1937 in Milford Square, Bucks County, she was a daughter of Mary (Bender) Janney, of Elk Grove and the late Jacob M. Janney, who died December 26, 2006. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Fox on July 17, 1993. Mrs. Fox had been employed by numerous area sewing factories including Dol-Ang Manufacturing, Kristel Fashions and Milco Industries. She was also well known in the area for the Ol Country Barn which she founded in the early 1980's and also for the Pumpkin Festival which she had operated for the past 23 years. She attended Quakertown High School but had lived in the Benton area since 1968. Mrs. Fox was a member of Christ United Methodist Church of Central. Her hobbies included sewing, reading. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her great granddaughter, Ainsley. Surviving, in addition to her mother, Mary, are her two children: James H. Fox, Benton and Colleen W. Bender and her Fiancee, J. R. Peterson. Also surviving are her 2 granddaughters: Tara Grigas and her husband, Teo, of Benton; Carol Crawford and her husband, Jon, Jacksonville, FL; her great granddaughter, Ainsley Mae Grigas, Benton; a step great granddaughter, Kelly Crawford, Jacksonville, FL; her brothers and sisters: Ronald Janney and his wife, Roxie, Fountain Hill; Sandra Rosenberger, Benton; Robert Janney, Benton; Linda Reily and her husband, Stuart, Allentown; Barry Janney and his wife, Evelyn, Benton; Judy Ashelman and her husband, Glen, Stillwater; David Janney and his wife, Linda, Benton; Susan Reabuck and her husband, Joe, of Stillwater and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her father and husband, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers and a sister: Jacob C. Janney on September 24, 2009; Daniel T. Janney on Oct. 10, 1996; Irene R. Swartley on July 26, 2006. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 at 11:00 A. M. at the McMichael Funeral Home Inc., 4394 Red Rock Road, Benton (Rt. 487) with the Rev. Howard W. Leh, officiating. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery, Fishing Creek Township. A viewing will be held Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM at McMichael's.
